I began our last Magic Secrets show episode, #44, with a brief tribute to Stan Lee.
My second Magic: The Gathering themed book, Magic Secrets (click the image below to open) begins with Dungeons and Dragons’ creator, Gary Gygax meeting with Magic’s inventor, Richard Garfield.
The idea for that Sci Fi scenario came from Richard himself telling me a story of how they had met.
I have great reverence for D&D and then for how Magic opened the world for gamers.
Likewise I have a huge degree of respect for Stan Lee. I must have read Uncanny X-Men #210 1000 times or more!
I saw through the decades how Stan Lee got the marvel product out to fans from comics to action figures to TV and then of course I enjoyed it tremendously when they hit the big screen with such impact starting especially with Iron Man.
As somebody who arguably has done as much or more than anybody to market Magic, it gives me tremendous pleasure to see this second Marvel set, this one made double nice by that they included the branding online in Arena and Magic Online, which I think matters.
The idea behind Magic Secrets dot com is crossing fun, friendship, David Mills’ Law of Implication “Secrets” and a twist of business know-how and even a pinch of high value relationship advice.
I’ve built wildly applauded 7 and 8 figure projects with David in relationship advice and digital marketing (especially SEO – search engine optimization) and those were all based on our amazingly successful first MTG Secrets venture all the way back in 2003, with our first book and Magic over the shoulder DVDs.
So these are all topics we’ve helped people have massive success with. And it’s not unusual for me to hear of more and more success of people from David’s universe of success.
Because of all of that, and because I’m so incredibly pleased how Bryn has created this Blog with Smitty, Debarshi, Lawrence, Jeromie, Tokyo Gary, DJ Michael Freeman, Adam, Michael Finney and the rest of our amazing team, I decided to dedicate a special series here to Stan Lee.

If you’ve started following Magic Secrets for some amount of time you may have seen us discuss various green based creature decks that usually branch out into one or several colors and especially go fast, either in terms of fast wins, or getting control with spell-counter (or Tidebinder!) backup.
One of the most popular designs is our Isengard Shuffle build – the most recent smash hit in that series is Atlantis Shuffle – a Merfolk version of this deck, which Bryn was recently ranked #33 with.
It’s been a few sets since we’ve seen a real reason to diverge from Merfolk strategy.
But the new Marvel Superheroes set came out with enough really enticing blue chip Legend creatures that I realized I could make a version where a lot of your card economy is coming just from each individual card presenting so many potential problems.
