After last week’s show, where Conan O’Brian’s director Billy Bollotino called into Magic Secrets for the very first time, I continued to play one of my favorite types of decks. (About the same deck we played live on the show). This deck type is in my favorites, because we can strip an opponents’ hand, piecemeal, or whole-meal (is that a word? It is now..)!
That ability of stripping an entire hand somehow reminds me of bringing an aircraft carrier to a battle, where the opponent is stripped of all modern tech, and is mostly too far behind to make a meaningful difference.
How were the results with Superior Shuffle / Adam’s Apple? How about from halfway into Diamond 3, into Diamond 1? How about 9-0?

Myojin (Smitty + Dan Burdick Shoutout!) “I’m not the biggest fan of trying to play fair”
In Q1 of this year, Smitty and Dan brought forth the idea of playing Myojin in Superior Shuffle. And ever since I saw that spell in action, it’s been in my top 3 of favorite spells that I’ve played (and played often!).
Myojin of Night’s Reach can be seen below as a screenshot from Scryfall:

When this Myojin enters, it enters with a counter on it. As long as this creature spell has a counter on it, it has indestructible. Once it’s on the board, we click on it to remove the counter. That’s when each opponent has to discard their entire hand. Pretty fun if you’re on this side of things. Pretty non-fun if you’re on the other side of things, I suppose?
With Superior Spider-Man in our deck, we usually don’t pay the 8 mana (3 black and 5). If we play Myojin, we usually get Myojin into our graveyard (discard or mill), and copy it with Superior Spider-Man. That’s 4 mana to discard their entire hand, and a 4/4 creature to bash into their lifepoints. Not bad for 4 mana if you ask me.
